The Osprey are making their voices heard from high atop their nests while Red Tail Hawk swoop across the dirt road carrying natural debris for fortifying their nests. Spring has returned to Tybee Island. The sunrise of the morning crests the ocean line before 7:15am and before the end of April, we will be enjoying more than 13 hours of daylight yet again. As the days get longer, the fun also starts to appear. There is no better way to start the day than with a sunrise beach walk. The light of the rising sun gets the eyes and the vibes ready for another great day on the Island.
Spring also invites the bikes to return to the roads. The bike route on 2nd feels more alive with the regular procession of tourists oogling all the pretty and funky houses that Tybee has to offer. The locals also seem a bit more friendly as the sunshine and warmer days thaw us from another short winter. The restaurants are expanding their hours to honor the influx of guests to Tybee, and live music becomes a regular beat again at Hucapoos, North Beach Grille, and Zunzibar.
The other great things about spring, the flowers! Some may complain about the pollen, but the big bumble bees are out and about pollinating our happy plants and bringing us more colors and smells that extend beyond the spring months.
The days are warm with a fabulous breeze to make you want to stay outdoors all day. The sunsets show off with a kaleidoscope of colors that take the breath away. And as you fall alseep on your favorite sand barrier island, you hear the ocean lulling you with her rhythms.
There are no bad days or bad seasons on Tybee, but the Spring is definitely a favorite.
